On-Set Coaching

As movement directors, Jean-Louis Rodrigue and Kristof Konrad’s purpose on set is to collaborate with the director, cinematographer, and/or producer(s) to understand the project’s vision while working with the actor(s) on fully embodying the character(s).

Animal Studies
Jean-Louis and Kristof both share the belief that actors must see and feel the world through the eyes and bodies of animals. The study of animals enables actors to act and react in new ways and to enrich and expand their own physical and emotional world, which includes the discovery of new, surprising ways of moving and acting.
Historical Characters
When a script is about a historical or iconic character, it is vital to integrate every detail of the biography of the particular person: the period, the place, the beliefs, and the social and political climate of the time in which the character lives. We map out the process, paying special attention to the details of the psychological, physical, and emotional journey of the character so the actor(s) can discover and integrate the interpretation from within.
Period Movement
As specialists in period movement, Jean-Louis and Kristof focus on assisting actors in penetrating the period manners and behavior of historical times as deeply as they penetrate their acting roles.

“Jean-Louis has been foundational to my work since the early ’90s and continues to inform both my acting and directing. When I returned to acting with Bill & Ted 3, JL was my first port of call. As anyone familiar with the Alexander Technique knows; the work begins with the body and ends with the body.”

“Jean-Louis is an incredible asset to any production. He zeroes in on the role as well as the actor to help shape the character in a very special way. His knowledge, expertise, and presence were not only beneficial to the actors, but to the production as well.”

“Jean-Louis worked on stage with our actor, helping her ground in the Alexander Technique and preparing her vocally for the task at hand — and he stayed with the show through the entire performance schedule. I both found him to be a vital contributor to our work, and I very much look forward to working with him again. He is clearly a teacher and a collaborator of the highest caliber. “
