Catherine Naglestad

Catherine Naglestad, the brilliant soprano from the Stuttgart Opera originally studied the Alexander Technique with Jean-Louis Rodrigue in the early 90’s. At that time she was referred by Judith Natalucci, her singing coach in Los Angeles.

For her opening of Handel’s Alcina at the San Francisco Opera, Jean-Louis and Judith are coming together again to prepare Catherine for the character of Alcina. Directed by Jossi Wieler, the Stuttgart Opera production has been described as a fascinating masterpiece of sensuality.

“Right from the entrance of the character of Alcina, sex is in the air. Catherine Naglestad sings her first aria in the arms of her beloved . . . in a scene of feverish, highly charged eroticism. The other characters can only watch, half bewitched, half shocked by Alcina’s brazen sensuality.”
