Margot Robbie will play Sharon Tate in Quentin Tarantino’s star-studded drama, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood — set against the backdrop of the Manson family murders.
This is the fourth film in two years that Margot has prepared with Jean-Louis Rodrigue (I, Tonya; Mary Queen of Scots; Dreamland). For this project, the two began working together in July 2018. Embodying iconic Sharon Tate in 1960’s Hollywood demanded simplicity and ease, but also a particular innocence that Margot found in working with Jean-Louis.
Damon Herriman who portrays Charles Manson also prepared with Jean-Louis to embody the demanding, highly physical behavior and ultimate “boogie man” energy of Manson.
The star-studded cast also includes: Brad Pitt, Leonardo DiCaprio, Dakota Fanning, Damon Herriman, James Marsden, Emile Hirsch, and Tim Roth. Leonardo DiCaprio (also Jean-Louis’ client) and Brad Pitt will portray best friends — one is a former TV star, the other is his longtime stunt double. The two are both struggling to make it in the entertainment industry “at the height of hippie Hollywood,” as Tarantino describes. The film will be released on July 26, 2019.
