Film director Ritesh Batra trained with Jean-Louis Rodrigue and Kristof Konrad while he was participating at the Berlinale Co-Production Market in 2012 with his critically acclaimed film The Lunch Box.
Ritesh confirmed that during his pitch at the Berlinale Co-Production Market, the coaching he received from Jean-Louis and Kristof was pivotal in getting his financing:
I was able to pitch it effectively after working with you. Arte France was in the audience at the Berlinale pitch, and they came on board with the film 6 months later and filled the gap that allowed us to make the film. So, I owe you one.
Ritesh’s new film Our Souls at Night is getting rave reviews and had its world premiere at the Venice International Film Festival with a Lifetime Achievement Award for Jane Fonda and Robert Redford.
